What is the CeMAP Modules 2 & 3 Classroom Course? 

CeMAP certified professionals are individuals who offer financial advice on a range of available mortgage products and services to their clients.

Held by over 80% of Mortgage Advisers in the UK, the ‘Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice’ (CeMAP) qualification has become the benchmark certification if you wish to pursue a career in the Mortgage Advice sector. The reason for this is because the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulates all mortgages in the UK, so earning your “licence to practice” has become a legal requirement.

CeMAP certifications are an RQF level 3 qualification accredited by Ofqual and awarded by the London Institute of Banking & Finance; making them a highly recognised and respected qualification in the industry. With CeMAP certifications under your belt, you’ll have numerous career paths to pick from, whether you choose to become self-employed, or work as a professional Mortgage Adviser for a business or bank.

Our CeMAP Modules 2 & 3 course will delve deeper into the topics covered in the CeMAP Module 1 Virtual Classroom course; enabling you to develop your skills and knowledge to a more advanced level.

CeMAP Module 2 will discuss how the mortgage application process works, mortgage law, as well as teach you the different products available for people to access alongside the various issue’s borrowers could face after completion.

CeMAP Module 3 on the other hand will take everything you learnt from Modules 1 and 2 and show you how to practically apply these principles to real-life scenarios.

This course is taught over 4 days, in a Virtual Classroom and hosted by an accredited mentor with years’ worth of experience in the sector. Our small class sizes enable you to have your questions answered straight away on any topics you may find tricky to understand in a secure and friendly environment. 

This course is eligible for a TOTUM PRO Card. 

Is the CeMAP Modules 2 & 3 qualification right for me?  

If you enjoy learning as part of an online group with fellow like-minded individuals, then the CeMAP Virtual Classroom training would be suitable for you. However, if you prefer to self-study away from a classroom environment and in a location that suits you, we also offer the CeMAP Modules 2 & 3 Online course. 


There are no prerequisites to enrol however we recommend you first complete CeMAP Module 1 training and exam (if you have not already done so) in order to earn a full CeMAP qualification and legally work as a Mortgage Adviser. It is also beneficial to have good reading and writing skills in English, as well as basic maths skills.    

Where could this qualification take me next? 

By successfully passing Modules 2 & 3 exams (alongside the CeMAP Module 1), you’ll earn a “licence to practice” which is a mandatory requirement to work in the industry.

As a newly qualified student, you’ll be able to apply for jobs in public/private sector banks, mortgage advice firms, or become a self-employed Mortgage Adviser. Examples of positions you could apply for include:

  •  Private Banking Assistant – £33k*
  •  Relationship Support Assistant – £33k*
  •  Protection Adviser – £50k*

What are the CeMAP Modules 2 & 3 modules?

CeMAP Module 2:

  •  Policies and practices that affect mortgages
  •  Mortgage Laws
  •  Insurance Policies
  •  Post completion issues and arrears
  •  Complete sales process in relation to mortgage advising 

CeMAP Module 3:

  •  The assessment of mortgage advice knowledge tests your understanding of the technical details to assess your ability to apply the knowledge covered. 

Throughout this training, you will:

  •  Learn about mortgage law, practise, policy and markets
  •  Understand the home buying process, mortgage products, rates and valuations
  •  Discover what factors can affect the value of a property and the implications this may have on buyer
  •  Learn the importance of planning consent regarding extensions and development
  •  Understand interest rates, repayment, and insurance options
  •  Apply your knowledge to real-life scenarios, while building up your confidence

CeMAP Exams  

Due to the Covid19 Coronavirus pandemic, Pearson Vue Centres are undergoing changes to their examination schedules. To find out more about the current situation, please visit the dedicated Pearson Vue Coronavirus update page.

CeMAP Module 2 is a 2-hour objective exam made up of 100 multiple-choice questions. CeMAP Module 3 exam is also 2 hours long, comprising of 6 case studies, each with 10 linked multiple-choice questions. Both exams can be taken at any Pearson VUE Test Centre (150 nationwide).

The units you’ll cover during the CeMAP Modules 2 & 3 exam include:

  •  Unit 3 – Mortgage Law, Policy, Practice and Markets
  •  Unit 4 – Mortgage Applications
  •  Unit 5 – Mortgage Payment Methods and Products
  •  Unit 6 – Mortgage Arrears and Post Completion Issues
  •  Unit 7 – Assessment of Mortgage Advice and Knowledge 

For CeMAP there is an exam fee of £202 per exam (£606 for all three exams) and this fee is paid directly to LIBF. You can apply to take your exam anytime throughout the year, including via a test centre or remote invigilation online. The cost of a re-sit exam is £170 per exam.

For CeRER there is an exam fee of £235. The cost of a re-sit exam is £170.
