How the CeMAP 2 & 3 Online Course Works
Starting the course is straightforward. Once you enrol, you get immediate access to our eLearning platform and can begin working through the materials the same day.
Here is what your learning journey looks like:
Step 1: Enrol and access the platform
You will receive your login details and can start immediately. All course materials, interactive content, and study resources are in one place, accessible from any device.
Step 2: Work through Module 2
Study MRT1 and MRT2 at your own pace. Each unit covers the mortgage knowledge you need, from property law and lending criteria through to mortgage products and post-completion issues. You have six months of access, so you can fit your study around work and other commitments.
Step 3: Complete Module 3
Once you have worked through Module 2, you move on to Module 3. This module tests your ability to apply everything you have learned across all three CeMAP modules through realistic client case study scenarios.
Step 4: Prepare for your exams
Use your study materials, practice questions, and mock exams to get exam-ready. The course also includes trainer-led live classes covering specific topics, giving you the chance to strengthen your understanding in key areas before you sit your exams.
What will you learn?
Our CeMAP Module 2 & 3 online course takes you through two focused modules, each building on the knowledge you gained in Module 1.

- Regulations and the buying process
- The role of the Mortgage Adviser
- Assessing an applicant's financial and credit status

MRT2: Mortgage Products and Post Completion

- Mortgage repayment methods
- Repayment vehicles for interest-only mortgages
- Interest-rate options
- Other mortgage products
- Schemes for specific groups of borrowers
- Raising additional funds from property
- Transferring mortgages

Module 3: Assessment of Mortgage Advice Knowledge (ASSM)

What CeMAP Module 2 & 3 Leads To
Completing Modules 2 and 3, alongside Module 1, means you will have finished all the training you need to gain the full CeMAP qualification. Once you pass your exams, LIBF will award you the Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice, and you will be eligible to work in regulated mortgage advice.
From there, typical career paths include:
- Qualified Mortgage Adviser at a bank, building society, or independent brokerage. Starting salaries typically sit around £40,000, rising to £75,000 or more with experience and commission.
- Mortgage Underwriter assessing loan applications and evaluating risk. Average salary around £30,000.
- Mortgage Administrator supporting the mortgage process and coordinating with clients and lenders. Average salary around £24,000.
- Mortgage Sales Manager managing client and broker relationships. Average salary around £56,000.
- Mortgage Compliance Officer ensuring activities meet regulatory standards. Average salary around £35,000.
Your Next Steps After Completing Module 2 & 3
Once you have passed all your CeMAP exams, you will need to obtain Competent Adviser Status (CAS) before you can practice as an independent Mortgage Advisor. CAS is a sign-off from an appointed Supervisor at an FCA-approved firm, confirming you are capable of handling mortgage applications without supervision. This could be a Principal, Director, Training and Competence Manager, Compliance Officer, or a Supervisor appointed by the firm to oversee trainees. You cannot obtain CAS from a friend or colleague independently; it must come through a firm that is regulated by the FCA.
You can work towards CAS by joining an established firm or by setting up your own practice and having someone oversee your applications until you achieve CAS. e-Careers can put you in touch with a broker to help you achieve CAS. Contact us to find out more.
You may also want to consider the Certificate in Regulated Equity Release (CeRER), which is awarded by LIBF and recognised by the FCA. CeRER allows you to specialise in equity release advice, opening up a further area of practice, particularly for later-life lending clients.
